In an interview with The Bulwark, released on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, Zohran Mamdani, an extreme left candidate for mayor of New York City, the city with the largest population of Jews outside of the indigenous Jewish homeland of Israel, refused to denounce the phrase “globalize the intifada,” This phrase blatantly calls for the global genocide of Jews. Both the first and second intifada were marked by terrorists blowing themselves up on busses, throwing Molotov cocktails at Jews, stabbing Jews, and bombing Jews.
Over the past month, we have seen the impact of “globalizing the intifada” in Washington, DC, when a couple was murdered coming out of an event at the Jewish Museum and in Boulder, Colorado, when someone wanting to “globalize the intifada” through Molotov cocktails at a bunch of elderly Jews quietly advocating for the release of innocent Israeli hostages.
“Globalizing the intifada” is a clear and unequivocal call for the violence against and the genocide of Jews.
Mamdani, who has repeatedly stated that he does not believe that Jews have the right to their indigenous homeland in the democratic state of Israel, compared the phrase “globalize the intifada” with the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. During the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, Jews fought the Nazis during the Holocaust, once again attempting to gaslight Jews. In fact, the comparison is designed to compare Israelis to Nazis – demonstrating a blatantly antisemitic intention.
The far-left, socialist candidate’s reference was so completely offensive that even the U.S. Holocaust Museum made a formal statement condemning Mamdani’s remarks as “outrageous and especially offensive to survivors,” (X, 6/18/25, 8:38am). The Museum’s statement continued by pointing out that, “Since 1987, Jews have been attacked and murdered under its (“globalize the intifada”) banner. All leaders must condemn its use and the abuse of history,” (X, 6/18/25, 8:38am).
At no time since this statement was made, did Mamdani retract his statement or acknowledge that this is a call for explicit violence and the murder of Jews around the world. Instead, he continued to suggest that the statement is a call for “human rights.” He simply failed to mention that this form of “human rights” is only achieved by the murder of Jews throughout the world.
So, since the NYC mayoral candidate is confused about the meaning of “globalizing the intifada,” let’s make the definition clear for him. “Globalizing the intifada,” calls for the genocide, the mass murder, of the Jews throughout the world and is morally reprehensible. Simple, right?
Let’s also clarify everything that “globalize the intifada” does not mean.
“Globalize the intifada” is not a call to educate yourself. It’s not a form of protest. It’s not peaceful. You can’t “globalize the intifada” through conversation or debate or over brunch. It’s a blatant call for murder.
“Globalize the intifada” is not a call for freedom. People don’t “globalize the intifada” on July Fourth and celebrate with fireworks and hot dogs.
“Globalize the intifada” is not a call for human rights. When you gather to murder people, you’re not acting humanely. Even if your targets are Jews.
“Globalize the intifada” is not a call for equality. Murdering people, ridding the Earth of two percent of the population, does not grant you equality or equity or equal rights. When you murder people, you aren’t making yourself equal to them.
You don’t “globalize the intifada” and then grab a Levain cookie or a croissant from Lafayette and discuss your position – you’re too busy washing the blood off your hands.
Look, I’m not a political commentator, and I’m not going to change anyone’s vote. But, as you go to the polls to vote in the democratic primary for New York City’s next democratic mayoral candidate, you might want to make sure that you fully understand the values and aspirations of the candidates before you give them your vote. You might want to consider that you don’t want to vote for someone who doesn’t outrightly condemn calls for the violent death – the genocide – of 12 percent of New York City residents.
With that in mind, you might want to consider that Zohran Mamdani is not the best pick for mayor.
You wouldn’t want to be complicit in a real global genocide, would you?
Great post! And yes, it should be simple that people who claim to support equal rights but do not allow for the rights of Jews to speak up for their own, to protect their own, to refuse to be victimized are just plain wrong. A mayoral candidate who is decidedly anti-Israel and antisemitic does not deserve a seat in public office anywhere, let alone NYC.
